Valentine’s Day Tip: How to Make Red Velvet Cupcakes

Valentine’s Day is only two weeks away and you might already be thinking of ways to make your loved ones feel extra special — from your significant other, friends, colleagues and family members. Make your gift more special by creating it yourself, such as baking red velvet cupcakes.

Red velvet cupcakes are really popular nowadays and you can order them from almost any bakeshop or cafe in your block. What makes them special — and perfect for Valentine’s Day — are their reddish hues and white and creamy cheese frosting on top. The chocolate-y flavor is divine as well and when placed in fancy boxes with a handwritten note, red velvet cupcakes are guaranteed to steal someone’s heart.

I searched for an easy tutorial for making red velvet cupcakes and found this video by Stephanie Jaworski of Joy of Baking:

Some tips in making red velvet cupcakes that make for heartfelt gifts:

  • Add a little spice. Sprinkle red hot cinnamon candies on top of each cupcake.
  • Instead of round cupcake holders, bake cupcakes in a heart-shaped pan.
  • Garnish with pecans, raspberries, strawberries, or candy sprinkles.
