For her show this weekend I made and gifted to her an exclusive design that Jennifer requested. She’s a foodie and loves bubble tea and the color green. She spotted our scented mint ice-cream cone necklace but thought a bracelet would be more fitting for the show. I knew I wanted to make her a simple charm bracelet, ala Kate Middleton. Here’s what I made:

Well… today is a bit different.

I want to pull back the curtain a bit and share something more personal.

Here goes.

I graduated from college not too long ago, in December 2010. Tiny Hands has been around for six years, so you can imagine that running a business while studying was very limiting.
2011 marked my first year of going completely full time with Tiny Hands. Last year I got my jewelry in the hands of some very influential people (and their websites), got into a couple of upscale boutiques, and got so busy I even hired a small team of contractors to help me.

I had no idea my homegrown business would blow up so much! From all the work in 2011, I’ve been able to bring myself up to a higher ground. I’m in a much different place than I was in 6 years ago. This got me thinking about how I could share some of this with you.

I’m always thinking about Tiny Hands and how I can make your day/week/life a more fun-filled one. In 2011 my tiny hands cranked out close to two thousand pieces of jewelry. This year I want business to be different.

I want it to be about YOU.

There is one REALLY BIG request you’ve made that I’ve been holding back on – for YEARS.
And… that is to teach and show you in depth how I make my mini food jewelry so you can make it too.

I want to teach you my craft, but I’m nervous because it means sharing with you more of myself and my business than I have in the past.

It’s going to take a lot of work, and I’ll only want to do it if there’s still enough interest (so please share this with anyone you know).

Hi guys! Thanks for checking in for another one of our fashion sets. This week, we’ve put together an ensemble for some drinks at the jazz club! This is very Mad Men inspired.

This vintage outfit channels the sultry confidence of old Hollywood’s femme fatales. We started with a vintage ruffled dress in deep and rich scarlet. Then pair the dress with red pumps.

In this fashion set, we’ve put together a sweet and versatile outfit called “Candy Day”. This outfit is simple, chic and can be worn for almost any casual daytime event–whether it’s a coffee date with friends or a leisurely stroll around the park.

We started off with this dark blue dandelion dress by Tobi. To complete the ensemble for when the weather gets chilly, we also added a sweet off white cardigan.

Hair Pins

Hair pins are versatile hair accessories. They can be worn with your hair up or down. The hairpins above are some of my scented charms attached to hairpins that I sold at some craft shows last year. They’re super simple to make! All you’ll need are hair pins with glue-on pads (you can find some at Etsy), super glue – I recommend E6000 that you can find at Michael’s or Joanns, and some decorative cabochons.  If you have scrapbooking cabochons laying around, they’ll definitely work too!

• Start by choosing the decorative charms you’ll use to adorn your hairpins
• Apply some glue on the pad of the hairpin
• Carefully put the charm on the glued surface of the hairpin. Apply a little pressure to keep the charm securely in place
• Allow the glue to dry

Headbands

Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf has certainly put headbands back on the list of the hottest hair accessories. Fortunately, you don’t have to be an heiress from Manhattan to work this fashion trend!

I’m loving this how-to guide from wikiHow on making your own headbands. Not only are these instructions simple and easy to follow, but they leave enough room for you to go crazy with your imagination!

Look around the house for some old plain headbands that you can decorate. If you don’t have any, then you can definitely find some at the nearest dollar store or accessory shop. Get the cheapest and plainest headbands you can find!

• Get some nail polish and start painting the headbands. Any color of your choice is fine–from deep rich colors to more glittery and frosted shades.
• Go to Michael’s or Joanns and look around for materials that you can  use to decorate your headbands such as ribbons, jewels, beads, fake flowers, etc.
• Start decorating!
